I joined PurpleMedia in 2018 as a Junior Graphic Designer, they’re a creative e-learning agency located in Northampton. I was taken on to help the senior designers with things like translations, artwork amends and branding.
After a year in PurpleMedia I was tasked with creating a storyboard for MARS who wanted a series of animations for their e-learning for employees. Each story aligned with one of their company ethics, as they are a family run company they chose these animations to be around their past families stories.
I created a few storyboards which went alongside the Five Principles of MARS which were shown to colleagues; these were added to the course as a module. I created this as a rolling animation which had the story captioned. I really enjoyed creating these, from drafting the initial story into a storyboard, researching the years and places these stories happened and finally creating them within the branding colours.
I also had the opportunity to draft the UI of e-learning course. This really helped me understand the interface and how a learner would navigate the site and keep them engaged with clear instructions. I worked alongside the developers and instructional designers who guided me through each page.
